Spain again

Most of you didn’t know, but Andre and I took another trip to Spain. He’d planned it for quite sometime, but I just bought my ticket a couple of weeks ago. He picked up Marco and Caroline and went to Barcelona, all for an FC Barcelona game. OK, it wasn’t just for the futbol game, but that was the highlight.

I was hoping for warm weather, but that didn’t work out too well. It only rained a couple of times, but it was wet, very much like Los Angeles. My fault entirely, but I froze. Regardless, we had a great time out and about in the city.

Funny thing happened on the way home. My flight from Barcelona to Munich was an hour late. I could see my connecting flight to Dulles when I arrived, yet they wouldn’t let me on. So, I go to Customer Service to find that there’s no way home that day. A first for me, Lufthansa put me up in a hotel for my 23 Hr and 50 Min layover. I didn’t know anything about Munich, other than I could have ended up in worse places for a layover, but I soon found that the city was a long way away from the airport.

After a night of being pampered at the hotel, I decided that I’d make the hike to spend the next morning in Munich. If I wasn’t prepared for the chill of Barcelona, I certainly wasn’t prepared for the sub-zero of Munich. Somehow I managed to survive with three layers, occasional coffee, and a whole lot of dodging inside warm stores to thaw. Many criticize Munich for rebuilding in original architectural style, yet I found it most charming; old mixed with new, and oh so clean. It was simply wonderful – cold, but wonderful. Now that I’m “home,” I thought I’d share this with you… Due to the climate of political correctness now pervading America, Kentuckians, Tennesseans, North Carolinians, South Carolinians, Virginians, Georgians, Southern Ohioans and West Virginians will no longer be referred to as "HILLBILLIES." You must now refer to us as APPALACHIAN-AMERICANS. Now if you'll excuse me, I got possums to fry...
